The History of Redi Haul Trailers, Inc.

Fairmont Steel Products, Inc. now known as Redi Haul Trailers, Inc. was founded in 1969 by Clayton Leach.  Fairmont Steel Products manufactured aircraft tow bars, concrete forms (used in pouring concrete for sidewalks, steps and bridges), tractor cabs and job shop metal fabrication in an 8,400 square foot building.

In 1973, the company ventured into an entirely different product.  They introduced to the agricultural market a Gooseneck Grain Trailer, which was under the trade name of Redi Haul.  This trailer was the primary product until 1978 when diversification in the trailer market started taking place with the introduction of a line of Skidsteer Loader Trailers for the industrial and construction market.  This line of trailers is known today as Equipment Transport Trailers.

In the late 70's, the company decided to expand the trailer line and soon became well known in every aspect of the trailer manufacturing business.  They started building small utility trailers to sell to the rental industry, both national and independent rental stores.  As expected sales increased and after seeing the demand grow for quality trailers, they concentrated on setting up dealers in the Midwest, (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, South Dakota and Nebraska).

With the "Redi Haul Trailer" becoming well known in the industry in September of 1981, Fairmont Steel Products, Inc. changed their corporate name to Redi Haul Trailers, Inc. to better identify the company as a quality trailer manufacturer.

In 1984, the company completed an expansion project, combining the two plants under one roof.  With the continued growth of the company, Redi Haul Trailers completed another expansion in 2005.  The company purchased a building just south of their current location (1205 N. Dewey Street), and moved the "Finishing Departments" across the street in November 2006.  The Finishing Plant contains many departments; paint prep, paint booths, wiring and lumber.  The main plant has the machine shop and the welding department along with the offices.

Redi Haul Trailers, Inc. is employee owned and more than a manufacturing plant.  They see their trailers through from start to finish, plus after the trailer is in the hands of the user, they have a customer service department that is able to help with any problem that may occur with your Redi Haul Trailer.  All trailers are backed by a Two Year Structural Warranty.

The Midwest remains Redi Haul's core market but the company now has a presence in all 50 states using a combination of its dealers, Redi Haul's traveling salesmen based in Fairmont, and independent factory representatives.

The company has grown so much in the past 40 years; they now operate under two buildings covering over 40,000 square feet.  Redi Haul manufacturers over 100 different trailer models.

Clayton, the founder, has always said: " You do 'Whatever It Takes' to get the job done."  This statement still holds true today.
